Can street art can improve pedestrian safety? The City of Roanoke has been making changes to Salem Turnpike at Landsdowne aimed at calming traffic and improving walkability. The project combines curb extensions, high-visibility crosswalks, bollard protected zones and street art to make a positive impact. Grant funding from the Virginia Department of Health helped bring it all together.
